Tottenham 2-2 Manchester United: Son rescues point but Spurs´ Champions League hopes fading fast

Pedro Porro and Son Heung-min rescued a much-needed point for Tottenham but their Champions League hopes hang by a thread following a 2-2 draw with Manchester United.

Ryan Mason was instilled as interim boss following Cristian Stellini s exit in the wake of Sunday s crushing 6-1 defeat at Newcastle United, though matters did not start well, with Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford putting Erik ten Hag s side in control.

Yet Porro s terrific goal injected life into Spurs before Son completed the comeback late on.

A draw might stop the rot for Spurs, though their Champions League hopes are fading fast, with United still six points clear in fourth with two games in hand.

Spurs effectively picked up where they left off on Tyneside, cracking after seven minutes w…

Mata: I am happy at Chelsea

Chelsea midfielder Juan Mata has insisted that he is happy at Stamford Bridge, even though he has fallen out of favour under Jose Mourinho.

The Spain international was a crucial part of Chelsea s team during his first two seasons at the club after signing from Valencia in 2011, helping them to UEFA Champions League, FA Cup and Europa League glory.

However, Mata has started just four of the club s nine top-flight games this term as new boss Mourinho puts his own stamp on the team.

The 25-year-old came into the side and scored in Tuesday s 2-0 League Cup win at Arsenal, though, and has pledged to continue fighting for a regular starting berth.

I am happy at Chelsea. I have always felt the support of the fans in every game, on the street I have felt the love from t…

Former Real Madrid midfielder David Beckham has hailed Gareth Bale for the way he has been coping with the pressure at the Santiago Bernabeu.

The Wales international joined Madrid from Tottenham in September 2013 and impressed in his first season at the club.

However, he received his fair share of criticism last term and Beckham is impressed with the way Bale has managed to hold his own in the Spanish capital.

I got to know Gareth when I trained at Tottenham a few years ago – and he’s a fantastic guy with so much talent, Beckham told the Daily Star.

I wasn t surprised when Real Madrid signed him for the amount they did. But, obviously, with that comes a lot of pressure.

And when you are at Real Madrid, whether you sign for £1million or …

Spurs new boy Emerson Royal ´hurt´ after being forced out by Barca

Emerson Royal feels hurt by the way he was forced out of Barcelona after the defender completed a move to Tottenham.

The full-back joined Spurs in a deal worth £21.5million (€25m) on transfer deadline day, signing a five-year contract.

Emerson s move came just under three months after Barca exercised the option to sign him from Real Betis, where he had spent the past two and a half years.

The 22-year-old started in the 2-1 LaLiga win at Getafe last weekend and feels he has been poorly treated by the cash-strapped Catalan giants.

It hurts me to go out like this because I knew that in my best form I could bring a lot of joy to the fans, he told Marca.  I leave with the feeling that one day I will return to give that joy to the fans.

Everton manager Roberto Martinez has claimed that new recruit Antolin Alcaraz is at the peak of his career.
